Grass trees going brown... WHAT SHOULD I DO ?23rd November 2007

With the onset of hot weather we have had quite a few calls from concerned customers about the appearance of their grass trees. Typically the foliage has browned from the tips and the external fronds have also browned. In the vast majority of cases the trees are still healthy as shown above where new foliage growth is vigorous. We recommend you continue watering your trees twice a week as outlined in the replants planting instructions and also add an extra watering session when we have sustained hot weather.
In addition apply Seasol or similar seaweed tonic to your tree each month to help reduce plant stress. Prepare a solution in a watering can as outlined by the maker and pour over the foliage and around the base of the tree.
